Non-Conventional Advertising

Some businesses are relying on non-conventional advertising to help them in this current economic climate. But what is non-conventional advertising? Are advertising flags flown on a flagpole a conventional or non-conventional method of advertising?

The current business climate is very challenging to businesses of all sizes. In the last few years, plenty of small and large businesses have had to close down. It is no longer enough to produce or offer good quality products and services. Businesses have to be more aggressive when it comes to reaching out to their target market. This has given birth to various non-conventional advertising methods.


The word conventional has a relative meaning. Something that is considered to be conventional right now might be looked at as non-conventional in the future. Something that was conventional in the past might be non-conventional right now.


Advertising through internet and social media was considered to be a non-conventional method of promoting a business. But with every business seemingly doing this type of advertising, it is no longer accurate to call it non-conventional. It has become a normal practice. It is now a conventional method of advertising.

An example of a current non-conventional advertising is human billboards where people are wearing clothing that promote the company. These clothing are creatively designed and often contains humor that are crucial for getting the attention of surrounding people. Advertising flags are also now becoming more of a non-conventional advertising tools due to how few businesses are using them.
